AN ACT TO AMEND THE SRI LANKA STATE TRADING CORPORATIONS ACT, No. 33 OF 1970.

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:-
|

Short title.
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporations (Amendment) Act No 67 of 1981.
|
|
Insertion of new section 2A in Act No 33 of 1970.
|
2. The following new section is hereby inserted immediately after section 2 of the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporations Act (hereinafter referred to as the ” principal enactment” ) and shall have effect as section 2A of the principal enactment:”

” Corporation to carry out any activity entrusted lo it by the Cabinet of Ministers.
|
2A. Notwithstanding anything in section 2 of this Act, any Corporation established under this Act may engage in or carry out any business or trade or any commercial activity as may be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. “.

Retrospective effect of amendment.
|
3. The amendment made in the principal enactment by section 2 of this Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on the date on which that enactment came into operation and accordingly any business or trade or any commercial activity engaged in or carried out by any Corporation established under that enactment prior to the date of the commencement of this Act, shall be deemed to have been validly engaged in or carried out.
