Police (Amendment)


AN ACT TO AMEND THE POLICE ORDINANCE.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Representatives of Ceylon in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: –
Short title.
1. This Act may be cited as the Police (Amendment) Act, No, 2 of 1968.
Repeal of sections 11 to 19 of Chapter 53.
2. Sections 11 to 19 (both inclusive), appearing under the heading ” POLICE IN RURAL DISTRICTS “, of the Police Ordinance, hereinafter referred to as the ” principal enactment “, are hereby repealed
Amendment of section 29 of the principal enactment.
3. Section 29 of the principal, enactment is hereby amended by the substitution, for all the words and figure from ” section 4. The expenses ” to ” as herein before provided: ‘ of the word and figure ” section 4: ”.
Amendment of section 80 of the principal enactment.
4 Section 30 of the principal enactment is hereby amended by the substitution, for the figures ” 7, 14, 22, of the figures ” 7, 22, “.
Sections 2, 3 and 4 to have retrospective effect.
5 The amendments made in the principal enactment by sections 2, 3 and 4 of this Act shall be deemed for all purposes to have come into force on the first day of January, 1967.
