Holidays (Amendment)
AN ACT TO AMEND THE HOLIDAY ACT NO. 29 OF 1971.

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:-

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the Holidays (Amendment) Act. No.. 21 of 1991.

Amendment of section 10 of Act No. 29 of 1971.

2. Section 10 of the Holidays Act, No. 29 of 1971 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal enactment” is hereby .amended by the repeal of subsection (2) thereof, and the substitution therefor, of the following subsection: ”

” (2)

(a) Every Order made under subsection (1) (a) shall apply to the whole of Sri Lanka or such part thereof 39 is specified in such Order, and.1 shall come into force, or be deemed to have come into force, on such date as is specified therein, whether such date is a date before or after the date of publication of such Order in the Gazette.

(b) Every Order made under subsection (1) (b) shall come into force upon the dale of its publication in the Gazette or on such later date as may be specified therein. “.

Amendment of section 11 of the principal enactment.

3. Section 11 of the principal enactment is hereby amended by the repeal of subsection (2) thereof and the substitution therefor of the following subsection:-

(a)Every Order made under subsection (1) (a) shall apply to the whole of sri Lanka or such part thereof as is specified in such Order ,and shall come into force ,or be deemed to have come into force ,on such date as is specified therein ,whether such date is a date before or after the date of publication of such Order in the Gazette.

(b)Every Order made under subsection (1) (b) shall come into force upon the date of its publication in the Gazette or on such later date as may be specified therein.”.

Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.

4. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
