Destruction of valueless documents (special Provisions) Law


A LAW TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONTINUANCE IN FORCE OF THE DESTRUCTION OF VALUELESS DOCUMENTS ORDINANCE AND TO PROVIDE FOR MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH OR INCIDENTAL THERETO.

BE it enacted by the National State Assembly of the Republic of Sri Lank as follows:-
Short title and date of operation.
1. This Law may be cited as the Destruction of Valueless Documents (Special Provisions) Law. NO 22 of 1977, and. shall come into operation on such date as may be appointed by the Minister by Order published in the Gazette.
Destruction of Valueless Documents Ordinance deemed to have been in operation.
2. The Destruction of Valueless Documents Ordinance (Chapter 479) shall, for all purposes, be deemed to be, and to have been, in operation as if that Ordinance had not been repealed and shall continue to be the law authorizing the destruction, of valueless documents preserved in courts of justice.
All acts and things done under Chapter V of the Administration of Justice Law deemed to have been done under the Destruction of Valueless Documents Ordinance.
3. All acts and things done under the provisions of Chapter V of the Administration of Justice Law, No. 44 of 1973, shall be deemed to have been done under the provisions of the Destruction of Valueless Documents Ordinance.
