AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE CENTRAL CEYLON
MUSLIM LADIES’ UNION
WHEREAS an Association called and known as the Preamble.
“Central Ceylon Muslim Ladies’ Union” has heretofore
been established in Kandy for the purpose of effectually
carrying out and transacting all objects and matters
connected with the said Association according to the rules
agreed to by its members:
AND WHEREAS the said Association has heretofore
successfully carried out and transacted the several objects
and matters for which it has been established and has
applied to be incorporated and it will be for the public
advantage to grant such application:
BE it therefore enacted by the Parliament of the
Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :—
1. This Act may be cited as the Central Ceylon Muslim Short title.

2. From and after the date of Commencement of this Incorporation of
Act, such and so many persons as now are members of the the Central
Ceylon Muslim

and style of the “Central Ceylon Muslim Ladies’ Union”
and by that name may sue and be sued with full power
and authority to have and use a common seal and to alter
the same at its pleasure.
3. The general objects of the Corporation are hereby General objects

(a) to construct, equip and maintain a building as the
headquaters ;

(b) to conduct Quranic Classes for young Muslim
children ;
(c) to commence Vocational Training Projects for the
school leavers of the Muslim faith ;
(d) to create awareness on Social Service towards
elderly and orphaned poor Muslims ;
(e) to identify vital community needs to provide
marriage counseling services to the community
and also facilitate the conduct of marriages for
the needy Muslims;
(f) to establish and maintain a library and a
recreational room in the headquarters, mainly for
the elderly Muslim ladies ;
(g) to establish and maintain an orphanage for
Muslim girls ;
(h) to establish branches of the Union in various parts
of the Central Province ;
(i) to conduct health camps and awareness
programmes for the achievment of the objects of
the Act.
General Powers 4. Subject to the provisions of this Act and any other
of the written law, the Corporation shall have the power to do,

(2) The first Committee shall consist of the members of
the Union holding office at the time of coming into operation
of this Act, and whose names are specified in the Schedule to
this Act.
6. (1) It shall be lawful for the Corporation at an Rules of the

(2) Any rule of the Corporation may be amended or
rescinded in like manner as a rule made under subsection (1).
(3) The members of the Corporation shall be subject to
the rules of the Corporation.
7. (1) The Corporation shall have its own Fund and all Fund of the
monies received by way of bequests, gifts, testamentary Corporation.

(2)All expenses borne by the Corporation in the

Accounts and 8. (1) The financial year of the Corporation shall be the
